Whether you call them Victorian cones or Tussie Mussies, these pretty creations can be used in so many different ways. I like to use a lot of vintage jewelry, feathers, ribbons and antique papers when I make mine. Hang them on the front door to greet guests, give them as party favors, hang them from a knob or the back of a chair, or use them to present a special gift. They delight young and old alike when filled with candy or goodies! It’s such a beautiful look to fill an entire Christmas tree with them or lovely when used to decorate a wedding reception.

I was really excited when Barbara asked me to teach a class, sharing with you my techniques and process for making your own cone. With economy the way it is, this year is a great time to create your Christmas gifts or Holiday decor. Depending on the supplies used to make them, you can suit them to your own taste, or those of the lucky recipient, should you be giving it as a gift.

Lesson 1: I will focus on the process of creating a template to cover your cone in paper, how to choose papers that are visually pleasing, how to finish the inside, the types of glue that work best, how to apply a protective finish, tips for using different types of materials for the handle, and ideas on how to attach them.

Lesson 2: This is the really fun part of the class! While I encourage you to use your imagination in decorating your cones, I will give you a lot of ideas on how to embellish them for all different Holidays, using a variety of materials. I'll be giving you tips and techniques on attaching all of the little extras, how to apply different trims, using vintage images and ephemera, adding glitter and instructions on how to finish things off so that you end up with a very professional look.

My hope is that you will leave this class with a sense of accomplishment and the desire to keep creating these Victorian cones again and again!

The supply list will be sent to all students one week before the class starts. Once you buy this class you will receive an email order confirmation, but you will not hear from us again until the supply list is sent.

A high speed connection to the internet is recommended for all students.

In order to participate in online classes at joggles you are expected to have basic computer and internet skills. You need to be able to browse the internet, know how to download and save a document to your PC's hard drive, and understand how to open and save email attachments. It is your responsibility to learn these skills before the class begins.
