This class is scheduled to begin on August 13, 2009.

Silk shibori ribbon flowers are inherently unique due to the hand dyeing process of shibori. This Japanese technique imparts not only color but texture to the ribbon and adds an additional dimension to silk flower work. Using silk satin shibori ribbons, students will create 3 styles of silk flowers that can be used as corsages, millinery decoration, as well as many other decorative applications.

Lesson one - I will include a brief outline of shibori and it's history. Students will then begin making a simple leaf which will be used with each of the 3 flowers. In this lesson students will also make a simple flower and a rose design.

Lesson two - Students will make a more elaborate flower which includes a central flower that can be made and used on it's own. In conclusion, I will provide finishing details for the three pieces and examples of how they can be used.

The supply list will be sent to all students one week before the class starts. Once you buy this class you will receive an email order confirmation, but you will not hear from us again until the supply list is sent.

A high speed connection to the internet is recommended for all students.

In order to participate in online classes at joggles you are expected to have basic computer and internet skills. You need to be able to browse the internet, know how to download and save a document to your PC's hard drive, and understand how to open and save email attachments. It is your responsibility to learn these skills before the class begins.
