This class is scheduled to begin on July 9, 2010.
This class is so much fun and the great thing about is that there are NO RULES and NO “Pattern” - only directions, visual demonstrations, and helpful hints! This creative process provides the opportunity for each chair to be uniquely designed and there are no two creations alike. I hope you’ll join us!
Lesson #1: Building a strong armature and foundation
While making your mermaid chair you will learn to design and construct a strong armature using easy to find supplies. The wonderful thing about this workshop is that the techniques learned can be used in the future to make any type of doll furniture.
Lesson #2: Adding texture and interest
You will learn to use “Rigid Wrap” (plaster cloth) and Celluclay (paper pulp) to add strength and texture to your mermaid chair. These two products are very tactile and a bit messy, but something you’ll be glad you tried. They’re fun to use and the results are fantastic!
Lesson #3: The underwater garden
In this lesson you will learn to create a beautiful underwater garden full of whimsical sea creatures. I’ll show you a simple way to sculpt sea flowers using paper clay. Also, I’ll share fun ways to add “found” trinkets to make your chair unique and one of a kind!
Lesson #4: Adding color
You will learn a simple painting technique that looks fantastic. You will use embossing enamel to create an enchanted underwater look and feel to your chair.
Lesson #5: Final Embellishments
To add the finishing touches I’ll show you how to create seaweed. Also, you will experiment with different embellishing techniques using wire beading, fabric, and more.
The supply list will be sent to all students one week before the class starts. Once you buy this class you will receive an email order confirmation, but you will not hear from us again until the supply list is sent.
