This class scheduled to begin on May 28th, 2013
This piece was inspired by the 1956 French children’s film, Le ballon rouge (The Red Balloon). I wanted to create a piece with a balloon in the air. Not only are the dolls created with fabric, so is the balloon. The large doll has a sculpted, stiffened and skinned face. The little girl has a drawn on face. Both figures have optional choices for hair.
Lesson One - In this lesson, you will make the large doll, stiffen and skin the head and paint the face.
Lesson Two – In this lesson, we will make the pants for the large figure and add the hair/hat and shoes; and embellish the costume.
Lesson Three – You will spend this week creating your little girl, dressing her and adding the hair.
Lesson Four – In this final week you will complete your piece by making the balloon, painting and embellishing the base and attaching the figures to the base.
