This class scheduled to begin on August 16th, 2013
The completed doll (Including base and dowel support): 14” wide x 22” high
We will be sculpting a PaperClay head and upper body, hands and feet for this advanced doll, “To Fly Without Wings.” Details will be provided for PaperClay usage and step-by-step instructions will be given for all sculpted body parts. Once sculpted and allowed to air dry, the PaperClay parts will be sanded, painted, and sealed.
Color pallets and fabric selection will be discussed prior to assembly of this flying girl. Once fabrics have been selected, “To Fly Without Wings” will be assembled from pattern pieces provided. This creation features such costuming techniques as fabric burning and beading. We will give “To Fly Without Wings” hair from burnt fabric and flowers to adorn her hairline. We will discuss the finer details of art doll creation: wire support options, positioning the doll to imitate flying, exaggerated feet that act and rudders, and mounting her on a rectangular base.
