Once again I have new and wonderfully unique stencils from Margaret Applin to share with you. In July I promised you a group of stencils that were different from others you have used (which they were and everyone loved them!) and today I’ll make the same promise. These stencils are unlike anything you have ever seen or used, and they’re completely different from Margaret’s initial offering of Stencil Design Tools.
What are they?
Medallion Master Stencils.
What makes them special?
Unlike the stencils you’re accustomed to working with, the openings in the Medallion Masters are not wide and arranged in a pattern to be sprayed through, but rather arranged in shapes of increasing sizes, just thick enough to allow a marker tip to pass through. Here’s where it gets special… in the videos (yes, two again! One by Margaret and mine) you’ll see us use the openings in the stencils to create medallion designs composed of rings and layers of elements, each built upon the previous, and each wonderfully different.
How big can they be?
Whatever size you wish! You’ll see us both work in a Joggles 8″ x 10″ x 8 panel Accordion Book, which offers lots of space to get creative. You can create smaller and more petite medallions or go big, adding layer upon layer of elements until the size is just what you want. Journals and smaller Accordion books also make perfect surfaces to create medallions on.
I worked with the Medallion Master Stencils on several occasions and each design I created was different from the previous, and none remotely resembled Margaret’s. And that’s the beauty; you’ll never run out of ways to combine the elements and are always going to create something unlike your previous effort.
