Here's the finished journal.  It measure 7 3/4" x 17" and I used Walnut Stain Distress Ink to color the paper.  When you mark the holes for the pamphlet stitch, measure in 1" from each end and make a hole, then measure 3 7/8"" in from either end - that's your center hole.  Cur your signatures 7 1/4" x 12".

There are a lot of color options for your faux leather.  After messing around I discovered that the lighter colors are not dark enough to alter the color of the kraft paper.  I tried Tattered Rose and Scattered Straw (my favorites!), but no luck.  They're just not dark enough.  Having said that, most of the other darker colors in the line will work to color the paper.  This is Aged Mahogany, which I like.  More samples below...
