 How Online Classes Work...

When buy the class you will receive an email order confirmation - the same as you do for any purchase at Joggles.  You will not hear from us again until a week to 10 days before the class is scheduled to begin.  At that time you will be sent the supply list and other information you need to get prepared for the class beginning.  On the first day of class you will receive an email from me that has the class webpage URL, your User ID, and password.

On the first day of class and on the same day of each subsequent week a lesson document is posted to a special class webpage where the students login and download it to their computer. All of the lessons are yours to keep and you can print them to work from or pretty much do anything except share them with someone else. These documents take the place of the instructor standing in a room and explaining how to create the project. They’re a narrative with step-by-step instructions and photos that explain how to get from point A to point B, etc so that eventually once you’ve completed the steps in the final lesson you should have a finished project.

You’re free to download the lessons and work on the project at your convenience. You don’t have to be at your computer at a specific time on a particular day, and it’s the same for working on that week’s part of the project - you do it when you have the time.

There are no special requirements other than you need to have Adobe's free Acrobat Reader installed on your computer as the lesson documents are distributed as pdf files which require the Reader program to open them.

If you have questions or want to chat with the other students you can login to the class forums. This is where all of the discussion for the class takes place. It’s totally voluntary – you don’t have to get involved if you don’t want to. The forums are private and only the students for each class and the respective instructor have access. There is a tutorial which explains how to get around in the forums, so if you’re not familiar with the environment it’s ok.

In order to participate in online classes at joggles you are expected to have basic computer and internet skills. You need to be able to browse the internet, login to the class webpage using an ID and password, and know how to download and save a document to your computer's hard drive. It is your responsibility to learn these skills before the class begins - they are NOT taught as part of the class.
