How Online Classes
Work...
When you buy the class you will receive an email order confirmation -
the same as you do for any purchase at Joggles. You will not
hear from us again until a week before the class is
scheduled to begin. At that time you will be sent the supply
list and other information you need to get prepared for the class
beginning. On the first day of class you will receive an email
from me that has the class webpage URL, your User ID, and password.
as well as one that has information about our class forums.
On the first day of class and on the same day of each subsequent
week a lesson document is posted to a special class webpage where
the students login and download it to their computer. All of the
lessons are yours to keep and you can print them to work from or
pretty much do anything except share them with someone else. These
documents take the place of the instructor standing in a room and
explaining how to create the project. They’re a narrative with
step-by-step instructions and photos that explain how to get from
point A to point B, etc so that eventually once you’ve completed the
steps in the final lesson you should have a finished project.
You’re free to download the lessons and work on the project at your
convenience. You don’t have to be at your computer at a specific
time on a particular day, and it’s the same for working on that
week’s part of the project - you do it when you have the time.
There are no special requirements other than you need to have
Adobe's free Acrobat Reader installed on your computer as the lesson
documents are distributed as pdf files which require the Reader
program to open them. PC users and those who run a Mac are
welcome to join - there is an Acrobat Reader for both and a wide
assortment of operating systems.
If you have questions or want to chat with the other students you
can login to the class forums. This is where all of the discussion
for the class takes place. It’s totally voluntary – you don’t have
to get involved if you don’t want to. The forums are private and
only the students for each class and the respective instructor have
access. There is a tutorial which explains how to get around in the
forums, so if you’re not familiar with the environment it’s ok.
A high-speed connection to the internet is
recommended for all students. Some of the lesson documents are
sizeable files and downloading them over a dial up connection might
prove difficult if not impossible.
In order to participate in online classes at joggles you are
expected to have basic computer and internet skills. You need to be
able to browse the internet, login to the class webpage using an ID
and password, and know how to download and save a document to your
computer's hard drive. It is your responsibility to learn these
skills before the class begins - they are NOT taught as part of the
class.
Class Refund Policy: All class fees are
refundable until the start date of the class. Once the class begins
no refunds will be issued. If you enroll after a class has begin you
are not eligible for any refund of the class fees.
